According to the center for disease control and prevention, obesity and overweight are both labels for ranges of weight that are greater than what is generally considered healthy for a given height. There are many causes of obesity, such as behavior, environment and genetics. In the past 20 years obesity in the United States has increased dramatically. In 2009 Colorado and the District of Columbia are the only two to have a prevalence of obesity that is less than 20%. Nine states had a prevalence of more than 30%.
